MyFitnessPal vs HealthifyMe: Which Fits Your Goals Better?

Last updated: September 2026

MyFitnessPal and HealthifyMe serve overlapping needs but very different markets. MyFitnessPal is a global generalist with a massive database; HealthifyMe was built specifically around Indian food, pricing, and — critically — where its AI coach actually works.

Food Database

MyFitnessPal’s own App Store listing puts its global database at over 20.5 million foods. HealthifyMe’s database is smaller in raw size but built with specific depth for Indian regional dishes and preparations.

AI Coaching — and Where It Actually Works

This is the sharpest difference between the two. MyFitnessPal’s AI Coach, launched Summer 2026, is reactive-only, gated to Premium and Premium+ subscribers, iOS-only, and live only in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand — not India. HealthifyMe’s Ria, by contrast, is built for and available to Indian users, offering 24/7 conversational feedback on meals and workouts. For an Indian user specifically, HealthifyMe currently offers AI coaching that MyFitnessPal simply doesn’t.

Planning Features

MyFitnessPal’s Plan tab (August 2026) is free for all members and lets you browse and filter recipes by goal, but it’s manual — you choose from the options. In our research, we didn’t find a comparable one-tap automatic plan from HealthifyMe either; Ria’s guidance comes through conversation rather than a generated plan.

Human Coaching

HealthifyMe offers an optional human-coach upsell tier, which has drawn sourced complaints in user reviews about coach reassignment, generic advice, and refund friction — detail in our full HealthifyMe comparison. MyFitnessPal doesn’t offer an equivalent human-coaching tier.

Community

MyFitnessPal removed in-app Challenges in 2022, leaving a web forum as its main community space — detail in our full MyFitnessPal comparison. We didn’t find a dedicated peer-community feature documented for HealthifyMe either.

Which One Fits

For a global, English-language user outside India who wants sheer database size, MyFitnessPal’s scale is a real strength. For an Indian user specifically, HealthifyMe’s Indian food database and working AI coach are a more practical fit — MyFitnessPal’s newest AI feature simply isn’t available there yet.
